> Helio Gaharu, a humble farm kid turned determined explorer goes on a journey to defend their hometown from corrupted creatures; ones that an old friend Jingle Tinsel swore to take down through a mountain expedition seven years ago, only to never return. Helio starts off as an incompetent recruit of the prestigious agency, before stumbling into the world of wild magic through the outlawed alliance. Throughout their journey, Helio grapples with their change in affiliation, all whilst retrieving ancient artifacts, fighting threats from a fallen empire and discovering what it means to truly belong.

✧ > overview: so far TEF doesn't got that much updates since it's my most solidified story so far, having it's roots all the way back in 2018 or so, and is pretty much the only story that I have an outline for all the chapters (though much tweaking is still needed), if anything that is probably what I should be focusing on rn if I were to develop the story further lol
> funnily enough there was an attempt for a large overhaul revamp several months ago, mainly due to a sense of boredom for having owned this story for years now, there was a need for new char dynamics/changing the tone of the story to be more light-hearted/reducing the large ass cast for supposed easier development, though eventually I found out there are alrdy so many plot points that are intertwined in such complex ways that even removing what I deemed inconsequential ended up making the story hard to work w
> I quickly found out I just needed more story variety to work w so my brain gets new refreshing things to play w every now and then, TEF is still what I considered my magnum opus though so there are still gonna be mild story devs albeit a bit more on the minor plot points to finalize everything
✧ > latest development: adding back Rigel lmao I figured he's too intertwined in the plot to be removed altogether, there's also a concept to further explore his bond w Birch + Rei, alongside having decided that the mug that Rei owns was given by Birch instead (as some sort of shorthand for the bond between the Elwood/Skyscape families, ultimately broken by Harper after knowing that Birch was who caused Rigel's disapperance)

Seven years ago, a tragedy known as the Eternal caused the loss of several victims in a supposedly forbidden mountain expedition. Now it's up to some youngsters to put an end to this seemingly one off but actually catastrophic event that may or not may not lead to the end of the world ™
Our main protagonist is Helio Gaharu, a humble farm kid turned determined explorer that's deemed terribly incompetent (and a coward even) by the agency they work for. They're doing their best, the agency is just not giving them credit (as all big agencies do)
Lio never wanted to become an explorer, but got dragged into the shenanigans after a dear friend of theirs, Jingle Tinsel went missing in the Eternal. Lio still believes he's out there and spends their journey trying to look for him. Turns out he's alive (surprise) but he's less than willing to return due to seemingly shady ass reasons. Now Lio has to figure out what the fuck is going on (all while reluctantly quitting the agency and joining the illegal alliance woah) cuz the alliance is doing a better job at solving the Eternal but nobody wants to admit that, especially the agency (wow they got beef)
Lio's adventure is not just fighting "bad guys" of the story but also confronting the fact that leaving behind past affiliations is gonna have you end up on a wanted list. The agency seeks to hunt them down for illegal activity, all while they encounter the true culprits of the Eternal (an ancient empire seeking to take over the world ™)
Anyways give Lio a break they're tired fr, they just wanna go home already, being hunted down by two separate parties is making this scaredy mf at the brink of a heart attack at all times, but justice for the victims calls for it, and they weren't about to just leave Jingle behind even if he seems to have a shit load of fun with his whole villain act (he's not)
