I wish I was lying... whilst all the other stories have authentic humble beginnings Sundowner is simply the outlier all because of a threatening duck, which probs explains the vibe of this page... that said I do plan to still write the story w the care that it deserves cuz there's a lot of dark subject matter to be explored, though in a slightly satire esque tone, which can easily go wrong so there's a lot of research to be done here
this is also probably my only story where you're not supposed to root for the protagonist lmao, he's just straight up an ass to rlly explore twisted means of surviving in a mildly apocalyptic era of the timeline, the rest of the chars aren't any better either lol they're not meant to be likeable but rather written to explore ethical implications and dire consequences, the story is noticeably a lot more bleak compared to the rest of the stories thou I do intend to make it end on a mildly decent note cuz nothing is bleak forever hm
✧ > latest development: again like all the other stories aside from the TEF/POE I haven't been developing this one all that much over the years even if it's been around since 2021 or so, thou the cast is now mildly expanded having an actual named antagonistic force that acts as a rival for Budgie amd eventually leading to his ultimate downfall lmao, rn his name is Obsidian... I've been contemplating what his name is for such a long ass time, hopefully this is what I settle on for once, also added last names for a lot of the chars cuz they didn't have any for a long time

Sundowner follows Budgie Fowl, a crude and cynical weapon dealer that runs a failing restaurant by day whilst secretly running an illegal magic trade in the background. He claims that he's only doing so to earn a living in the city of Dusleth, which has been mostly drenched in crime for the past few decades.
With illegal wild magic roaming all over the streets, Budgie's former main business of running the restaurant doesn't seem all that much lucrative these days, especially after being ransacked by the known crime organization lead, Obsidian and his gang. Fueled by petty vengeance, Budgie thinks of himself as wholly justified to bestow the same fate on everyone else that comes along his path, even at the expense of estranging all previous relations that he had.
As he seeks more and more recruits to aid him in his malicious deeds, he eventually comes across Enoki Twine, an odd jobs guy that deems himself overqualified for every job and claims himself to become the best assistant that Budgie will ever have.
Though that is far from the truth as Enoki is more than amateur at every possible thing, aside from being a fun guy to be around and a good shoulder to lean on that is, which Budgie is ultimately pissed about.
