TIMELINE

✧ GENESIS ERA ✧

A very long time ago, the universe was shrouded in darkness and perpetually cold. There were nothing but mountainous planes that existed across space. That was until the first stars appeared, and these stars would scatter across the vast void. Warmth from the stars eventually brought upon the first glowing lights with colour. These glowing, colourful lights would soon be known as Flares. Within the darkness, a Stone and a Crystal lied dormant beneath the mountains with no bearers to belong to. But as Flares emerged, new life awakened, burgeoned with sentience and the will to create. They would soon become the first wielders of magic in the form of two goddesses.

EARLY GENESIS ERA

> The Soul Crystal & The Stone of Creation

The first lives were immortal as they were born from pure magic. Warmth from the stars were a life force and colours of the Flares were what gave the goddesses their form. They were known as Auster and Boreas. As the stone and the crystal were wielded by the goddesses, they too were infused with the essence of power. Auster wielded the Soul Crystal, whilst Boreas wielded the Stone of Creation.

The Stone of Creation, encrusted with hints of emerald green, it led to the creation of life. Light from the stars no longer roamed aimlessly in the skies, as the stone allowed the creation of souls and vessels through extracting the stars' raw power. Though, the stone could grant creation just as much as it could grant destruction. The Soul Crystal glistened with bright, amethyst purple, granting control over all souls and vessels alike. Malevolence and misfortune shall never exist, for as long as the wielder calls for peace. It was what kept things in order as chaos was believed to lead to one's downfall.

Together, the goddesses ruled the land of Cloud Cliffs, a floating island above the sky as life blossomed for millennia with no end in sight. It was home to all immortal beings, as all creations under the stone brought upon eternal life. The crystal guided them with gentle tranquility, in which all that was ill-natured will never plague their minds.

> The Shatter of the Soul Crystal

It was one fateful night. Underneath millenia of peace and order, Boreas hid a tinge of envy that grew in the dark. If she were to create all beings, she too shall have power over them. The crystal was something she had yearned to obtain over time, and yet, she stopped herself, she knew Auster took pride in ruling over, and Boreas too was fond that they ruled side by side. It was a bond unbreakable. Written in the stars, from the birthplace they both shared. But even the stars shifted its trajectory as her heart grew cold, in which the coldness would grow into a ruthless confrontation.

As the fight ensued, the Soul Crystal shatters, and it shattered the minds of all beings too. All immortals under the goddesses' rule no longer abided by the crystal. As they gained consciousness, chaos wandered, with awareness that no longer default to peace and order. Cloud Cliffs struggled to exist as one as virtues and vices opposed, distance grew amongst citizens as they pursued differing visions. With power drained from the shattered crystal, Boreas too lost her power and fades along with it, as her existence was binded to the crystal that once gave her purpose, one she could no longer serve.

Boreas, with remorse, broke the Stone of Creation in half as Cloud Cliffs shatters into two: Cloud Island and Corrupted Cliffs, with each land granted half a stone to wield. Since then, immortal lineage was only possible through blood relation and never through creation from the stone, as half of a stone only had half of its power. The shattered Soul Crystal was hidden far far away from the eyes of many, never to be seen again, as danger will be brought upon all if it were to fall into the wrong hands: legends foretold that it could only be mended with souls, a grand feat that even the goddess herself couldn't bear to act upon knowing the lives to innocents that would be sacrificed, let alone for a fault that was of her own doing. As the Stone breaks in half, Boreas loses her last breath and perishes the way Auster did. The two return to the skies in the form of Flares, only overseeing the lands as faint glowing lights upon the coldest winter nights.
